AQUA MATER

From the Amazon to Iceland, via the Arctic, the Franco-Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado has been travelling the world for more than thirty years, with the aim of capturing the most beautiful places on the planet.

Aqua Mater is an invitation to raise awareness of environmental issues. This spiritual and sensory experience inside Pavillon Contemplation will immerse visitors in an exotic atmosphere with musical creations on the theme of water and mist effects.

Imagined by the Colombian architect Simón Vélez and his associate Stefana Simic and installed for the first time during the 2018 Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles. Built in Guadua bamboo from Amazonia, this 1000m2, 68m long, 16m wide and 9m high pavilion was set up in 2 months on the Parvis de La Défense.

A striking contrast between natural architecture and steel construction of the towers constituting an original architectural confrontation. Contemplation is an artistic initiative that combines photography, architecture and music.
