Autumn in Paris
2023 November
Indian summer is coming to an end in the French capital. So, it’s now pumpkin spice latte time with tons of Fall activities that have only just begun!
Since the start of the school year, Parisians have been swept up in a whirlwind of activities with one event following another such as Salon Maison et Objet, Paris Design Week, and of course Fashion Week (See our article on Fashion Week) that have brought together the international community.
September began with the most iconic of design shows – Maison et Objet. This not to be missed event has been welcoming exhibitors from all over the world since 1995. With a desire to involve the entire Paris design community, M&O launched Paris Design Week in 2011. This show, held parallel to M&O enables “the whole city to reveal the innumerable talents it conceals” (source: Maison et Objet website).Taking place throughout the city, all forms of art are on display during an intense two weeks of events and happenings.

We were proud to play host to a number of gallerists in our spaces during PDW :
Next up was Fashion Week where after New York and Milan, the world fashion capital showed off what it can do. September Fashion Week can be considered a sports event. Major fashion houses or Maisons prepare their runway shows, a key moment for presenting their future women’s collections. But, it’s not just the catwalks that draw a crowd: showrooms are just as packed with buyers perusing the upcoming season’s catalogs. Whether in beautiful Parisian apartments or in street level galleries, multi-brands are snapping up the limited available spaces. Many counted MR Agency to find the perfect exhibit space such as Cult Gaia, Nanushka as well as multi-brand showrooms like Arddun Agency from England and The Known Agency from Australia.

Félix-Antoine Savard says “Autumn is a season of wisdom and good advice” And, we can’t agree more!
October and November are still considered “high season” in Paris. This lovely time of year, with its timid sun and vibrant foliage, attracts holiday tourists to iconic parks such as The Tuileries gardens delighting voyeurs from afar. What could be better than a cozy apartment to relax in after a long stroll in a Parisian park? The central districts of Paris are full of hidden apartments and our real estate agents can help you find the perfect short- or long-term rental or even purchase if your heart desires!
But the question is, how do you fill these cooling days? Here are a few activities you won’t want to miss!
- Enjoy a hot drink in your favorite café.
Our recommendations: Café Kitsuné, Café Nuances, Cuvé Noir…
- Visit the many exhibitions at Art Basel, better known as Paris +.
Did you know? Initially, it was FIAC that was present during this period, and has been for 47 years. But in January 2022, the Art Basel group won the contract. We dedicated an article to this last February.
- The Paris Asian Art Fair comes to Paris with a host of artists to showcase Asian art. The exhibition will take place at the Monnaie de Paris.
- Notre-Dame reopened its doors a few days ago to mark the end of work that began in 2019 following a major fire. To celebrate this event, an exhibition called “Les trésors de Notre-Dame” (“The Treasures of Notre-Dame”) is taking place.
- As the Olympic Games come to Paris, the Arts Décoratifs are staging an exhibition linking “Fashion and sport, from one catwalk to another“, a perfect contrast to awaken the curious.

November is photo month in Paris, and you’ll find a large number of exhibitors all around the capital. The Salon du Made in France opens its doors at the Parc des Expositions. The Paris Photo fair takes over the ephemeral Grand Palais from November 9 with thirty-six international artists.
During Paris Photo, Catherine Baba and Melissa Regan present the exhibition DEVOTION. Devotion is a charity created by Catherine Baba in 2022 to raise funds for cancer research. The event will feature an exhibition, the first screening of James Crump’s film “Antonio Lopez, 1970: Sex, fashion & disco” in France, and an auction. We are proud to be a part in this action, in line with our corporate and personal values.
If you too would like to take advantage of galleries / showrooms throughout the year, or at key moments such as Fashion Week or Paris Design Week, to exhibit your creations, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
